Abstract

At the annual meeting of the association, the following speeches where held: Miss Morgan read a paper on "How to organise meetings". Miss Forsaith read a paper on "How to extend the work of the British Women's Temperance Association". Miss Candler read a paper on "Grocer's Licenses". Mrs. Leavitt spoke about her work for the Temperance Society in Japan. Mrs. P. Smith gave an abstract of a report on alcohol abuse. Mrs. Mary Woodbridge spoke of her own conversion to the temperance cause. Lady Henry Somerset gave a speech on the strength of the temperance movement and its political impact. Mrs. Ormiston Chant spoke about the evil of drunkenness.
