Abstract

1) Lectures to Ladies: Advertises "lectures which Miss Frances Power Cobbe proposes to give" on "Ethical Science." 2) Girls' Friendly Society for Ireland: At a meeting, Lady Meath makes a speech, which is reproduced at length. 3) Women Householders in Stockport: Short report on an "eloquent" lecture by Miss Downing on the "Duty of Women to the Country as well as to the Home," given before a female audience. 4) Women as Factory Inspectors: At the Trades Union Congress in Edinburgh, Mrs. Paterson makes remarks on the Factory Acts and female Factory Inspectors. 5) Women in Temperance Work: At a "conference of ladies" in Oxford, Miss Annie Young reads a paper on "How ladies can best help Band of Hope work," which is briefly summarised. A remark by Mrs. Lucas in response to a speech by Professor Green is mentioned as well. Women's Temperance Association (Irleand): "[L]engthened and most interesting addresses were delivered [...] by Miss Foot and Miss Emily Foot." Further speakers are mentioned.
