Abstract

1) Brentford Conservative Club: At a meeting of the Club, Emily Massingberd gave an address in favour of female enfranchisement. She said the right to vote should be extended to women as it would improve the position of the female sex. 2) Portsmouth: At a meeting of the Women's Liberal Association, Mrs. Pugh read a paper in which she discussed the prospect of female suffrage. She spoke in favour of women's enfranchisement and mentioned that women were allowed to vote for School Boards and Boards of Guardians, so she saw no reason why they should not have the parliamentary franchise as well. Mrs. W. Ward spoke about the same topic. She said that women have to look primarily to the Liberal party for support in their fight for enfranchisement. 3) West Derby: At a meeting of the Women's Liberal Association, Mrs. E. Stewart-Brown presided and spoke the opening remarks. Mrs. Addison gave an address on the inequality of the divorce laws. She said she wanted women to have the same legal status before the law that men had and she went into further detail about the equality of the sexes.
