Abstract

1) Bourn: "Miss Slack and Mrs. Barton, Sleaford, addressed the meeting." 2) Birkenhead: "Countess Alice Kearney gave an interesting address, dealing with women's position in regard to politics, and with the special laws relating to women and children which require alteration." 3) Cadoxton-Barry: "Miss Morant gave an address on political organisation among women." 4) Colchester: "Addresses were delivered by Mrs. W. D. Pearson [and] Miss Conybeare." 5) Devonport: "Miss Gill, vice-pres., read a paper on 'Constitutional Sketches.'" Briefly summarises the content. 6) Faversham Division: Two inaugural meetings take place, both of which are addressed by Mrs. Sinclair. "Mrs. Austion, Hon. Sec. of Sheerness, spoke a few words of advice and encouragement." 7) Gosport and Alverstoke: "[A]n interesting address was delivered by Mrs. Bamford Slack on 'Women as a Political Force.'" 8) Gateshead-on-Tyne: At a drawing-room meeting, "[a]bout a dozen ladies assembled to hear an address by Mrs. Newton." Briefly references some of her remarks. 9) Haverfordwest: "A resolution protesting against the strong language used by Miss Cozens at the Birmingham Conference, and urging the Executive Committee of the W. L. F. to prevent if possible the repetition of such sentiments, was unanimously passed." 10) Horncastel: "Miss A. E. Slack delivered an address on [...] the great influence exercised by women's associations, and the vast amount of work that comes within their scope." 11) Leicester: Miss Charlotte Ellis "rendered earnest tribute" to the late Miss Royce, and "Miss GIttins then spoke on the educational functions of political associations." 12) Maryport: "Countess Alice Kearney gave an address" on Liberal Associations and "the leading questions of the day." 13) Mapperley: Mrs. Bennett gives and address. 14) Midland Union: Mentions that Miss Slack addressed meetings on several recent occasions. 15) Merthyr: "Miss Morant delivered an admirable address upon Irish legislation of the past." 16) Norwood: "Mrs. Bateson gave an excellent address on 'Social Progress in Politics.'" It is briefly summarised. 17) Newcastle-on-Tyne, Elswick: "Between fifty and sixty ladies assembled in the Nursery Cottage to hear an address given by Mrs. Newton." Her speech is briefly summarised and evaluated. 18) Portobello: "Miss Kellie, sec. of the S.W.L.F., delivered an interesting address on women's work in regard to Liberal politics and social questions." 19) Torquay: "An interesting address was delivered by Miss Latimer." 20) Wells: "Miss Bradley then spoke of the influence exercised by associations."
