Abstract

Includes an excerpt from a speech by Mrs. Parker, given at "the first British Women's Conference" in April 1876, as well as from her opening remarks at "the first annual meeting [of the British Women's Temperance Association] in Memorial Hall" in May 1877. Also mentions that "[t]his first Conference of the British Women's Temperance Association was brought to a successful conclusion by a large meeting, where several women made their début in public life whose names have been known and honoured from that day forward."
