1) Women Poor Law Guardians: At a meeting of the Belfast Board of Guardians, Mrs. V. J. Chamberlain reads the report and Fräulen Clam, from Cassel, speaks on poor law guardians in Germany. Other women, inlcuding Caroline Biggs, Laura Ormiston Chant, and Louisa Twining speak in moving or seconding resolutions. 2) Suffrage: At a meeting in Portland Hall, "Miss Müller, Mrs. Fenwick-Miller, Miss Cobden and others were among the speakers." At a preceeding drawing-room meeting, Lydia Becker and Caroline Biggs "explained the objects of the movement" for women's suffrage. Mrs. Arthur Arnold, Isabella Tod, Biggs, and Müller speak at another drawing-room meeting. 3) Women as Inspectors of Factories and Workshops: A paper by Mrs. Paterson, given at a meeting of the Women's Protective and Provident League, is summarised and a discussion in which several women participate, reproduced. 4) Society for the Employment of Women: At the Society's annual meeting, Frances Cobbe speaks on "the alleged inferiority of women's work." 5) British Women's Temperance Association: Miss Moorhouse and Mrs. Joseph Lucas read papers on "Alcohol and the Blood" and "The Social Customs of Society," respectively, at a conference. At the Association's annual meeting, Mrs. Bradley reads the report, which points out a necessity for more female speakers "beacuse during the last nine months five ladies had had to deliver over 300 addresses." Other women's remarks are mentioned. Birmingham: "Mrs. Richardson, of St. Benet's Vicarage, London, was one of the speakers." Edinburgh: Miss Burton speaks at a meeting on the municipal vote. Her address is summarised. 6) Home for Destitute Girls, Belfast: At a meeting of the Belfast Women's Temperance Association, Mrs. Byers speaks on the origins of the idea for the home. 7) Moral Reform Union: A "lecture to ladies was given at the house of Mrs. S. W. Browne, by Elizabeth Blackwell, on 'The Wrong and Right Methods of dealing with Social Evil.'" The lecture is briefly summarised. 8) "Miss E. A. Ormerod, F. M. S., has been appointed Special Lecturer of Economic Entomology at the Royal Agricultural College."
