1) Lady Henry Somerset presided over a public conference of the World's Women's Christian Temperance Union at Princes' Hall, London. The main topic was the State Regulation of Vice in India. 2) Mrs. Andrew and Dr. Kate Bushnell are announced to give several addresses all over the country, carrying out the message of the Conference. 3) Lady Henry Somerset is announced to be one of the special speakers at a meeting in support of the Government Direct Veto Bill, which will take place at the Park Chapel. The meeting was organised by workers from the local Temperance society. 4) Mrs. Whitting gave a speech at the annual meeting of the Friends' Temperance Union. After her, Lady Battersea "was enthusiastically received and spoke with effect on the educational and social phases. She urged the Union to to try and influence the teaching bodies to provide scientific Temperance teaching in schools, as is done in America." 5) Mrs. Ganguli of Calcutta is reported to have been one of the speakers at a Temperance meeting in Princes' Hall. On that occasion she also addressed issues of local clothing, highlighting for example the difference in dress between muslim and non-muslim women. 6) When Mrs. Ganguli was invited to speak at the great National Congress of Hindoos, and male representatives threatened to leave if she was allowed to address the audience, she won the fight, claiming that if the men are as narrow minded as that, they should better leave any way. 7) At the first annual meeting of the Norwegian Women's Christian Temperance Union, the association's president, Countess Wedel-Jarlsberg, and its secretary, Fräulein B. Esmark, were announced to give addresses during that month at different places.
