Abstract

1) At the annual conference of the Middle Union of Women's Liberal Associations in Hanley, Miss Agnes Slack, Hon. Sec., began the proceedings by reading the annual report, befor Lady Gilzean Reid gave an address on the matter of Female Suffrage. Mrs. Osler offered some criticism of the matter, but eventually it was decided that the matter of the vote for women should be endorsed. 2) At the first winter meeting of the Eastbourne W.L.A. Mrs. Slade and Miss Helen Chapmen were among the chief speakers. 3) Miss Sewell read the report at a meeting of the Carlisle W.L.A. 4) Countess Alice Kearney, Mrs. Bilson, Miss Bilson and Miss Shaw gave addresses at a meeting of the Bideford W.L.A. 5) "Mrs. Massingberd was the chief speaker at a meeting of the Didsbury W.L.A. Her address, however, was chiefly devoted to Temperance legislation." 6) Announcement for a musical conversazione hosted by the women's branch of the Clapham Liberal and Radical Association at the Clapham Liberal Club, which will also feature addresses by Miss Orme and the Hon. Mrs. Ashley Ponsonby. 7) "Mrs. Eva McLaren has been addressing the annual meeting of the W.L.A. at Southport [...] [on matters concerning working in local associations and the Female Suffrage Question." 8) Mrs. Martindale, of the Brighton W.L.A. read a paper on 'Should Christian Women Take an Interest in Politics?', and Mrs. Cleare spoke about the Parish Council Bill at a meeting of the Cuckfield, Haywards Heath, and Lindfield W.L.A.
