1) At the international Convention at Chicago, several women speakers represented their countries: Mrs. Sigrid Magnusson spoke about Temperance in Iceland, whereas Great Britain was represented by Miss Conybeare, Miss Emmett and Mrs. Pearsall Smith. The same paragraph announces a lecture to be given by Miss Jessie Ackermann at a meeting in Memorial Hall, London, which will be chaired by Lady Henry Somerset. 2) Courses for women at a newly founded 'School of Methods' are mentioned, where Mrs. Eva McLaren will teach on 'Parliamentary drill, and Mme Bereta will give lessons on voice production. The goal of these courses is to prepare women for an active life in the cause of furthering the emancipation of women and speaking up for philantropy.
