Abstract

"I am doing the literary work I told you about," replied Mary. "I hope to finish in about two years' time, and then " - she slightly hestitated - "I shall probably accept an offer I have had made me to be a lady lecturer in mathematics in a college in Yorkshire; the present lecturer intends resigning then on account of her age."
