The speeches were followed by recitations from Miss Hunter. 4) At a joint meeting of the women's and men's associations at Betley, Mrs. Gill gave an address. Excerpts from another address, given by Lady Henry Somerset at the recent annual meeting, were also read out. 5) "The Chesterfield branch did an excellent bit of work [...] by calling a public meeting in the Assembly Room, to hear Miss Kate Jenkins speak on 'The Position of Women in regard to Parish Councils.'" 6) At an open-air meeting held at the new public park in Burslam, Miss Pepper 'gave an earnest and practical address'. 7) At a garden party given to the 'Y' branch by Lady Robinson, Miss Saville, of Bristol, gave an address after tea and games. 8) At an 'At Home', hosted by Miss Weston in Portsmouth for sailors from the Royal Navy, Dr. Sarah J.
