Abstract
Historical overview of women's public speaking in Britain with the purpose of discounting a "ludicrous picture [...] of the first women to speak on platforms" drawn by Lady Battersea in an "otherwise delightful paper at Norwich." Includes quotes from others' accounts by of early women speakers' work in America. Also mentions "[c]heap caricature" being used broadly to discredit women speakers.
