1) The Women�s Local Government Society: At the Society�s annual meeting, �Mrs. Morgan Williams read a paper on Welsh schools under the Act for Intermediate Education in Wales,� and Alice Busk �on the nature of her work� at the Vestry of St. George. It is mentioned that Busk�s paper has been published. Both papers are summarised briefly, and Walter McLaren�s laudatory comments on Busk�s are reproduced. 2) Mrs. Ayrton�s Lecture on Electricity: Ayrton�s paper on �The Hissing of the Electric Arc� marks �the first occasion on which a lady had appeared before� the Institution of Civil Engineers. Mentions that �[m]any ladies were amongst the audience.�
