Abstract

1) British Association at Belfast: Reports on papers read by women, inlcuding Lydia Becker, "in the economic section" before the Association. Paraphrases the papers, as well as discussion contributions, in varying detail. Also records a public meeting and reproduces Isabella Tod's and Mrs. William Grey's speeches. 2) Hospital for Women: Two women are named as being among the speakers at "a large meeting in support of this institution," and the treasurer, Mrs. Westlake, reads the report, which is reproduced. 3) Announcement of lectures on Human Physiology, and English Contsitutional History, by female lecturers. 4) Women's Suffrage: "During July, Miss Craigen lectured at Holbeach, Newbourgh; and at Stanhope, and four other towns, Co. Durham. A lecture has also been given at Whitby." 5) Employment - Trades Unions for Women: Mrs. Paterson speaks at a meeting convened to promote women's trade unions. 6) Miscellaneous: Miss Leigh speaks on housing for poor women at a meeting in Paris.
