Abstract

Biographical sketch of the new Principal of Bedford College, Miss Emily Penrose, who was a renowned scholar of Greek archaeology and art. The piece mentions on several occasions that she gave lectures on various subjects, including English history and classics at Brighton, and on "The Daily Life of the Athenians" and "Greek Vases" at the British Museum. The latter lectures (her most famous ones), were later repeated at South Kensington and enhanced with lantern slides.
