1) The General Election - The Darlington Women's Liberal Association: Miss Tod "gave an address on social and political subjects, and Miss Louisa Wright, of Mansfield, on Temperance as a question in which women were deeply concerned." 2) School Board Elections: Reprints a report on the "lady candidate for Gateshead", Miss Connell, and her stance on free education. "Miss Connell spoke agreeably and fluently; she brought practical experience, deep thought, and a knowledge of statistics into her remarks, and her suggestions were received at times with an amount of feeling approaching enthusiasm." 3) Women Poor Law Guardians: Several women, including Laura Ormiston Chant and Mrs. Haycraft, speak at a drawing-room meeting.
