Abstract

Biography of Margaret Bright Lucas that dwells repeatedly on her career and abilitiy as a public speaker and discusses the shifting public perception of women appearing on the platform, arguing that the overall demeanour, appearance, and character of early women speakers was more significant than their oratorical abilities.
