1) "Speaking of the extension of the franchise to women, Lady Sandhurst says: - 'Lord Salisbury, when he spoke as he did in Scotland, must have seen it was inevitable. Even if we get from the Tories, it will always be a powerful weapon in the hands of Liberalism - that is, if we educate our women as we are eduating them now.'" 2) In her speech before the Dublin Women's Liberal Unionist Association, Miss Tod argued for an increased closeness and sense of unity between the Scottish, English and Irish Associations, and increased involvement of all women in public work, either at meetings or through writing.
