Abstract

"At the British Association, the questions relative to women were discussed in section F; for Economic Science and Statistics. On August 8th Miss Becker read a paper on some 'Maxims of Political Economy as applied to the employment of women and the education of girls.'" A long section of the paper is reproduced in paraphrase, and responses by several male and two female speakers, as well as Becker herself, are recorded. A previous occasion on which Becker participated in a discussion, is mentioned.
