1)At the annual public meeting of the Crewe Division Women's Liberal Association at the local Town Hall, presided over by Mrs. Latham, several women spoke. Mrs. Latham expressed her satisfaction with the way in which women had stepped out of the shadow, had started to become active on a public platform, and were now (according to her) within reach of Parliamentary franchise. After that Mrs. McLaren seconded Mr. McNeil motion concerning the Irish Question and his criticism of the present government's policies; she then further addressed the women's cause. 2) Mrs. Brine addressed the Exeter Radical Association on 'The Work Before Us', in which she addressed issues of religion, taxation, politics, farming and class. 3) Mr. Gladstone spoke at The National and the Women's Federation Meetings in Manchester's Free Trade Hall, about parliamentary reform work, which was followed by a discussion about female franchise, in which especially Miss Balgarnie voiced the women's grievances. The discussion was then followed by a lecture on Temperance by Dr. Kate Mitchell. 4) Mrs. Alice Cliff Scatcherd gave an 'instructive and interesting' speech on the 'Women's Franchise League' before the Malton Essay Society.
