Abstract

1) Miss Amelia B. Edwards: At a meeting of the New England Women's Press Association, Ms. Amelia B. Edwards expressed her admiration for the women's colleges in North America. Mrs. Lucy Stone was among the other female speakers. 2) A Syrian Lady Lecturer in New York: In New York City, Mrs. Barrahat from Syria gave public lectures about the present deplorable situation for women in her native country, speaking about some of the injustices they had to endure in daily life, such as child marriages for girls and young-age pregnancies leading to ill health, or the despicable and dangerous mourning rituals they have to endure.
