1) At a Drawing-Room Meeting of the Women's Council of the Lon. Aux. of the U.K. Alliance, hosted by Mrs. & Ms. Thomas and presided over by Mrs. Dawson Burns, several addresses by women speakers were given. Mrs. Hind-Smith spoke against governmental involvement in the drinking habits of the population; Mrs. Lacy promoted the Alliance's support for mothers; Mrs. Breyne spoke about the dangers of a public house next door to poorer dwellings, and the temptations it entailed for the people. Finally a lecture on the Direct Veto, given by Dr. Dawson Burns, was announced. 2) As a closing to a series of lectures on health, given by Mrs. Scatcherd, the instructor invited about 100 of her female listeners to tea. The Mayor, who also attended the event and thanked her for her philantropic involvement in the society, presented her with a paper knife as a token of his and her pupil's gratitude for her services.
