Abstract
Mentions that Ray has lectured in Italian as well as English. Quotes her recalling her "first political speech to about 600 people," as opposed to "small meetings, clubs, and guilds": "'Who is she?' 'Where does she come from?' were questions buzzing about in whispers so loud that I could hear them. Never once was I nervous. The great needs of England lay on my soul, and I thought only of that."
