Abstract

1) School of Medicine for Women: Report on the establishment of the London School of Medicine for Women that includes a list of lecturers. Elizabeth Garrett Anderson is named as lecturer on midwifery. 2) Lectures to Ladies: "Miss Maccomish has delivered a course of lectures on Human Physiology at 112, Brompton Road, on Mondays and Fridays." Dr. Francis [sic] Elizabeth Hoggan has lectured and "proposes to give a second course 'On the physical training of children' [...]. The lectures will be fully illustrated with diagrams." "Madame Cellini, a well-known and popular lecturer in France and Switzerland, gave a course of French lectures [...]. One of these was on the position of women in modern society." 3) Suffrage: At a well-attended meeting, "Miss Anna Swanwick, Miss Ashworth, and Miss Cobbe, were among the speakers." "Miss Craigen has lectured at Longside, near Aberdeen, and at Armble, and Appleby." 4) Annual Meeting of the Vigilance Association: At a meeting, Miss Wilson reads the annual report, which is reproduced in summary. Josephine Butler's address is paraphrased as well, and Isabella Tod is mentioned as another speaker. 5) Social Science: "At the last meeting of the Social Science Association, many ladies contributed papers." Speakers and topics are named and the papers briefly summarised. 6) Miscellaneous - Women of Foreign Countries: A lecture by Mrs. Arnold "on the condition of women in foreign countries" is briefly reproduced.
