Abstract

At an enthusiastic meeting at Westminster Town Hall about Women as County Councillors, "Mrs. Costelloe made an able speech, and quoted a case in Kansas where a town was freed entirely from gambling by the election of a government of women." Mrs. Massingberd then insisted on the importance for every individual in society to become active, to avert the spreading culture of indifference. Miss Cobden, who was received with many cheers, then gave her reasons why it made sense in her eyes that women are represented in County Councils (her arguments are quoted).
