At a social meeting of the Women's Progressive Society at the private residence of Miss Bourne, which was 'well attended', a programm consisting of "speeches from different ladies, interspersed agreeably by music, songs, and recitations, awaited the guests. The meeting was presided over by Mrs. Massingberd, who addressed the issue of higher and better education for girls. After her, Mrs. Headlam in a 'very racy speech', called attention to the various groups in the nation which supported women's issues. This was followed by Mrs. Sibthorp, who addressed the history of women's position in society. One last speech was given by Mrs. H. Williams, who urged for a dress reform, before the meeting was concluded by Miss F. Bourne, who once more summed up all the most important points made in the course of the meeting. The evening was then concluded with some humorous recitations.
