Abstract

1) Miss Cobbe's Lectures: "During the month of December, Miss Cobbe brought her admirable series of lectures on the Duties of Women to a close." The article gives a brief overview of topics and audience. 2) Miscellaneous: Mentions and briefly summarises two papers, on the Poor Law, and Boarding and Pauper Schools, read by women at a meeting of the Statistical and Social Inquiry Society. 3) Women and Politics: Women in Sheffield "sent requisitions to the two [parliamentary] candidates requesting them to address a ladies' meeting, as they considered they had not a little influence, though no votes."
