Abstract

1) Women need to be able to express themselves clearly and comprehensibly if they want to do public speaking. 2) Miss Katherine St. John Conway gave a lecture to the Fabian Society in Ashton in which she spoke out against the current state of affairs in the labour market. She said the labouring classes lived and worked in such desolate circumstances that it would take them a long time to get used to and appreciate better working conditions (such as shorter hours and better pay). 3) At an upcoming conference of women workers in Bristol, Millicent Fawcett will read a paper suggesting amendments of the criminal law, and Mrs. Alfred Marshall will speak on friendly societies.
