At a 'magnificent meeting' of the Liverpool Women's Liberal Federation, held at Hope Hall, several women spoke. Mrs. Stewart Brown opened the proceedings, before Lady Henry Somerset, Mrs. Wynford Philipps, and Miss Frances Willard (of Illinois) addressed the demonstration meeting. Subjects included local governments, the poor-law reform, religion and the Church , disestablishment, women's franchise and the liquor traffic, amongst other things.
