Abstract

1) Thanks, Mr. Spectator: An excerpt from a review of the print publication of papers given at the Bristol Women's Conference from the Spectator. It refutes prejudice against publicly speaking women as unfeminine and praises in particular Margaret Sewell's "lucid and luminous" paper on working conditions among the poor, and the Duchess of Bedford's paper on "Quiet Hours."  2) Teachers in Conference: Paraphrases Mrs. Burgwin's argument for higher wages for women educators. 3) Poverty, Pauperism, and Prostitution: Miss Katherine St. John Conway gives "a fluent and telling speech, which again and again was heartily applauded."
