1) At a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Brighton Women's Liberal Association at the private residence Mrs. Martindale, whose aim it was to found a new local branch of the assicoation, several addresses were delivered or alluded to, such as Mrs. Martindale's presidential address at the Brighton Conference. Speeches made included one by Mrs. Martindale on "The Organisation and Union of Women's Liberal Associations", followed by remarks by Mrs. C.D. Perrott and Mrs. Hood, who seconded that a Sussex Union should be formed, or one by Miss Love on female suffrage. "Speakers kept well to time in the reading of their papers, and some of the best were the shortest [...]." Other speakers were Mrs. Lile Hastings (on District and Council Bills) and Mrs. Payne (on State regulated Vice in India). 2) At a meeting of the Sussex Liberal Women, chaired by Mrs. Martindale, Mrs. Leeds spoke about current pressing political issues and women's involvement in politics. The address was then followed by a lively discussion, in which several women, particularly Mrs. Hood, participated.
