At the Conference of Women Workers at Leeds, several women spoke and gave papers, among them Mrs. Walter Ward, who lectured on "The Training of Teachers for Technical Classes," Mrs. Sheldon Amos, who addressed the issue of women's work in connection with County Councils, and Miss Hetty Jones, Lady Superintendent of the Manchester Business Young Ladies' Association, addressing "the conditions of life in, houses of business." Ladies commenting on the issue included Mrs. Percy Leek, Miss Hammond, Lady Frederick Cavendish, Mrs. Rawlinson Ford, Emily Kinnaird and Mrs. Edward Passavant. This part was followed by another paper by Lady Knightley on "Some New Openings for the Employment of Educated Women," before the proceedings were closed with a conversazione, held at the City Fine Art Gallery. On the next day, the ladies once more convened at the Albert Hall, and papers by Mrs. Scharlieb ("The Supply of Medical Aid to the Women of India"), Miss E.A. Manning ("Educational Work Among Women and Girls in India"), the Hon. Gertrude Kinnaird (on the Zenana missions), Mrs. A.T. Lyttelton ("The Influence on the Home in the Advance in the Education of Women"), Miss Leroy ("The Discipline of Reading"), and Mrs. Talbot Baines ("The Openings for Work in Leeds") were heard. Simultaneously, at the Lecture Room of the Methodist New Connexion Chapel, Lady Frederick Cavendish, Miss Bartlett of Amritzar, Mrs. James Goodenough ("Mission Work Among the Fallen") and Mrs. Creighton addressed the audience.
