Abstract

1) Ladies' Collegiate School, Belfast: Two women speak at a meeting discussing the founding of a scholarship. Their remarks are paraphrased. 2) Further Elections of Poor Law Guardians: Upon her retirement form the Lambeth Board of Guardians, Eva Müller speaks on the history of women's eligibility for board work. Her speech is reproduced in paraphrase. 3) Women's Temperance Association, Belfast: At a meeting at a Methodist church, several women, including Isabella Tod, speak on the work of the Association. Tod speaks on "Education." The contributions are summarised or paraphrased. The Church of England Temperance Society: Miss Haslam reads the report, and "Mrs. M. Evered Poole (Eva Travers)" gives a paper on "Female Intemperance, its remedy." British Women's Temperance Association: Mrs. Lucas presides at an afternoon meeting, and "Miss Tod of Belfast, Mrs. Holmden of Cambridge, and others" speak at the evening meeting, both held at Exeter Hall. 4) Miscellaneous - Debates: Miss Richardson opens the "joint debate of the Westminster Debating Society and the Somerville Club" on free elementary education. Several ladies read papers on "Institutions for the Higher Education of Women" at a drawing-room meeting.
