1) North Country Women's Liberal Association: At the annual conference of the Women's Liberal Associations of Northumberland and Durham, several women read papers on topics including "The Social Side of Political Associations," "The New Cantoment Rules for India," "Education," and "Woman's Suffrage." The latter paper, written by Mrs. Barnes and presented by Mrs. Coates, is quoted from in paraphrase. 2) Bradford Lady Liberals: At a soirée in honour of Miss Gregory's return after time abroad, Mrs. Byles makes a welcome speech, to which Gregory responds. 3) Announcement for a series of six lectures by Florence M. Gardiner on "The History of British Furniture." Includes information on ticketing. 4) Medical Missions: Lady Dufferin presides "at a public meeting for ladies on the interests of the Edinburgh Medical Missionary Society." Her remarks on the Society's work are paraphrased. 5) Lectures on Social and Chartiable Work: Brief information on content and purpose of the lectures. The article mentions that the "'central' courses for 1897-8 began [...] with a lecture by Mrs. Bernard Bosanquet, on 'The Standard of Life.'"
