Abstract
Biographical account of Lucy Stone's career as a public lecturer for women's suffrage and against slavery. Mentions her education, training in elocution, first public appearance, and effect as a speaker, as well as various incidents at which she was verbally or physically abused. Also addresses the prejudice of public speaking being unwomanly and discusses economic aspects of her lecturing.
