Abstract

Report of the proceedings at the German Women's Congress, held at the Rathaus in Berlin. Several women speakers are mentioned, who either read papers, or contributred to the event in other ways. The congress also featured several specialised sections with speakers of their own, covering such topics as the Social Question, Dress Reform, Temperance, women workers, and many more. Also critiques of the deliverance of some of the addresses are provided, e.g. of that of "Frau Lily Braun, who [...] was alternately hissed and cheered, but enthusiastically applauded at the close of her speech, when she made an ardent appeal on behalf of the one million of women employed in German factories [...]." It is further noted that speeches were made in a variety of languages, among them German, English, French, Italian, Russian, Hungarian, et al. Speakers included Mrs. Ormiston Chant.
