Abstract

1) Political Associations of Women - Midland Union: Lady Hamilton presides at a conference, and "Mrs. Hallett of Bath gave an eloquent address on the Parliamentary Franchise." Includes an excerpt in paraphrase. An exchange between two other women is briefly reproduced. Liberal Unionists: Mrs. Ashford presides at a meeting and gives an opening address, which is paraphrased. Bristol Women's Liberal Unionist Association: Two resolutions moved by women are quoted. 2) Women Poor Law Guardians - Annual Meeting: Three women are named as speakers at the meeting. At a conference on the following days, two women read papers "on the need to give Guardians the power of retaining children from falling into the hands of disreputable parents." A third women gives a paper on "Cottage Homes," and Louisa Twining presides. 3) Leglised Vice in India: At the "Annual meeting of the Ladies National Association" at Exeter Hall, "Mrs. Butler presided, and [...] Mrs. Eva McLaren [and] Mrs. Fawcett" speak. 4) Association of Nurses: "Miss L. Twining and Miss C. J. Hood addressed the nurses on the need of thrift and saving in their profession, an on the requirements of thorough training." 5) Temperance: At a conference of the British Women's Temperance Association, "Miss E. Docwra read a paper on the legislative aspect of the temperance question," which is reproduced in paraphrase. Four women speak to a resolution at "the Anti-Compensation Demonstration in Hyde Park." 6) Women in Templar Lodges: An excerpt from a paper on "Woman's Suffrage" by Mrs. Wheeler, given at a Lodge session and subsequently printed in the Abingdon Herald. 7) Zenana Mission, Belfast: At a ladies' meeting, several participants read papers.
