Abstract

The author provides descriptions of Fawcett, whom she "had often seen [...] on a public platform," and of her home. The conversation between the author, Fawcett, and her sister Miss Garrett is subsequently rendered. It moves from Fawcett's preferred outdoor activities and education, to her skills and knowledge, with a focus on when she acquired them in relation to her marriage. She recounts the first time she spoke publicly, "about 1868," giving a paper for her blind husband. She does not enjoy speaking in public. The conversation further touches on higher education for women, women's suffrage, and Facwett's writings.
