Abstract

At the first meeting of the Southport Women's Liberal Association for this new season, Mrs. Thew presided over the session, in the course of which several addresses were given. In her opening speech, Mrs. Thew spoke about the importance of education as a bonding elements amongst women. After her, Ms. Ryley (member of the Birkdale School Board) assured the members that she, too, did evering in her power to promote education amongst the girls attending her school, before she provided the members with a list of the achievements of the last season. It was also announced that Ms. Cheetham would give several lectures to girls at various schools. In the end, Ms. Wübbe "read a very able and interesting paper on the Irish leader."
