"The London County Council members had an animated debate on Tuesday over the Report of the Licensing Committee, and finally decided that the proceedings should be held in public. The great meeting held at St. James's Hall on Friday week in support of the action of the London County Council Committee in their efforts to purify public places of amusement, and at which Lady Sandhurst spoke as an ex-member of the Council, has stirred up public opinion and strengthened the hands of reforming party."
