Abstract

1) Addresses were given by Miss Emily Davies (founder of Girton College), Miss Blackburn and Miss Mordon at a private drawing-room meeting at Mrs. Sterling's (Bristol). 2) At a meeting of the Central National Society for Women's Suffrage, addresses will be given by Mrs. Stanton-Blatch, Miss Emily Conybeare, Mrs. Ashton-Dilke and Mrs. Busk. The meeting will be attended by several well-known women and advocates of the movement, among them the Countess of Carlisle, Miss Cobden or Drs. Kate and Julia Mitchell. 3) At a meeting of the Women's Suffrage and Liberal Federation, Miss Cobden moved a resolution, demanding equal franchise rights for men and women in an elaborate address. Afterwards, Mrs. Brine (Devon) "made a clever speech," urging all women to support the movement. These wishes to make women's suffrage even more central to all Liberal politics were seconded by Miss Balgarnie in a short address. Other speeches that followed were given by Mrs. Byles, Mrs. Stanton Blatch and the Countess of Carlisle, who was welcomed to the stage with vigorous applause. The meeting was then concluded with addresses by Miss Cons, Countess Schack, Mrs. Walter McLaren, Lady Sandhurst (who was welcomed as enthusiastically as Lady Carlisle), Mrs. Costelloe and Miss Orme.
