Abstract
Costelloe tells that, although "a very fluent speaker," she is "grown much more nervous than I used to be. I made my first speech when I was only sixteen." Having previously been a temperance advocate, she then recalls beginning her "political work by assisting [her husband, [who ran for M.P.,] at his meetings, and by speaking."
