Abstract

Female speakers are mentioned in the context of moving resolutions only through several long items. 1) Leeds: Miss Ashford gives an address on the movement for women's suffrage. Briefly records a remark made by Mrs. Sunley upon moving a resolution. 2) Drawing Room Meeting: "Mrs. Shaen, Miss Mordan and Miss Abney Walker" [are] the principal speakers" at "a well-attended drawing-room meeting." 3) Lectures: "By special request of the Lolesworth Club, [...] Mrs. Fawcett gave and address on women's suffrage." 4) The Late Miss Becker: Reproduces a "Minute from the Edinbrugh National Society for Women's Suffrage," which mentions that Becker "was amongst the earliest pioneers of our cause, and with tongue and pen and earnest effort, combined with singular ability and a mind of great legal capacity, did much to press forward the claims of women to the Electoral Franchise."
